Better Together
These last few months have been unlike anything we thought we would experience as a company and team. Like so many, we have faced the brokenheartedness, the confusion and the chaos. We have been reminded of the value in community, our team, the gift of dance and the necessity of art in our lives.
Like so many others, our world changed on Thursday, March 12, 2020. We made the hard choice of closing the studio due to the increasing spread of a novel virus we had not heard much of. We were one day away from competing at our next regional competition. We were READY!!! Our dancers, teachers and families were devastated to find out not only were we not able to compete; the studio had to stay closed until further notice. Schools, businesses and life as we knew it came to a screeching halt.
Without a hesitation, our dancers made the transition to dance class via Zoom in literally days. Instead of heading to Spring Break, our dancers adjusted and headed to Zoom dance classes. Our screens and our hearts were so full. Our dancers were able to take private virtual classes with some of the best in the industry including Molly Long, Mallauri Esquibel Hansen, Lauren Yakima, Morgan Clune, Nickie Del Re Masino, Danielle Wilson and Tiffany Krause. Looking back, and having the luxury of being back in the studio, we are incredibly grateful for the online classes during that time. The resiliency these dancers possess is inspiring. So much unknown, so much change, so much fear. Seeing our teammates every day and sharing our movement with each other was our lifeline.
We were able to reopen our doors in June and have not taken for granted being together as a team. Since then, we have been fortunate enough to offer The 2020 Dance Experience as a CLI Dance Studio Partner, Our 2020 Artistry Summer Intensive, 2 Summer Camps for dancers ages 3-10, as well as In-studio classes and private lessons.
On August 24th, Artistry began its 4th season. We are leading our largest team to date. We have had the huge honor of opening an additional studio. We are holding fast to hope for what our future will bring. We want to rise up to the challenges facing us all. Our hearts desire to learn and grow as artists, as technicians and as human beings is on fire. Season four: here we come!
